The civic body claims to have filled most of the potholes, a day before the immersion day – Anant Chaturdashi. Saturday 6pm was the deadline set by the civic road department for ward offices to fill potholes in the city.

“Over 70% of the work has been done. We have received information from our volunteers about the work going on. There are potholes on a few roads, but most of the roads have been cleared,” said Girish Walawalkar, general secretary of the Brihanmumbai Sarvajanik Ganeshostav Samanvay Samiti.

As per the last update, there were 148 pothole locations left to be filled. A total of 10,390 locations were detected and 10,242 were filled as on September 7.

In a series of reports since July 20, HT had highlighted how Mumbai’s roads continued to be plagued by potholes despite civic agencies spending thousands of crores on construction and maintenance.
