State Congress president Manikrao Thakre has slammed the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) for exercising undue pressure on chief minister Prithviraj Chavan for allotting three more subsidised cooking gas cylinders and for blaming him for delaying important decisions.

On Friday, Thakre said that the government would soon declare a policy on cooking gas as Congress president Sonia Gandhi wanted party-led states to provide relief to people. “The NCP is threatening to take to streets against the CM only because it wants to wrest credit for cooking-gas subsidy,” Thakre said, adding that the charge that Chavan had delayed decisions was unwarranted.
