Australia's chef de mission Steve Moneghetti has urged his athletes to stay in the New Delhi even when their individual event is over so that they could cheer athletes from other disciplines.
Some athletes, including Australia's lawn bowlers, had said they may leave immediately after their event is over.
"We want them to stay and support their fellow team members. The Games experience is about being part of the
Australian Commonwealth Games team.
"You are not here for your individual sports only. You are here to support the team in other competitions,"
Moneghetti said.
"There is no doubt that one of the lasting memories of being part of a Commonwealth Games team is bonding with the
other team members. It is quite a unique opportunity."
Moneghetti praised the accommodation in the Games Village.
"All systems are go. From my point of view I think we are right at this point in time ... All the athletes have rooms to
go in. We're fine," Moneghetti was quoted as saying by the Daily Telegraph.
He also said the athletes are being asked to stay more in the Village for security reasons.
"We've got a security person here as part of the meet and greet and they will be talking to them just about things like:
stay in the village, spend most of the time in the village and make sure the section managers are aware of where you are at all times," he said.
