On Monday, talks between the companies and the employee unions didn’t yield any result.

“The strike will not affect power supply because two major unions, the Subordinate Engineers’ Association and INTUC, will not participate in it,” said a spokesperson of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company.

Employee unions that will participate in the strike have opposed privatisation in some regions. “We will continue to oppose the move,” said the action committee.
