The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has proposed two alternatives to the state government’s Best-Five scheme for SSC students.

They have sent these suggestions to education minister Balasahab Thorat and the SSC board’s chairperson, Vijaysheela Sardesai, ABVP members said in a press conference on Monday.

“Given that the syllabi, exam systems and marking patterns are different for each of the boards we have suggested these solutions for junior college admissions that will be fair to all,” said Narendra Pathak, president of the ABVP, Mumbai. “There is still time to solve this problem.”

The first alternative proposes allocating seats in junior colleges on the basis of the proportion of applications received from students of different boards.

The second proposal suggests a ratio that aims at equalising marks of students from different boards.
