More than 1,900 students and parents attended this year’s first HT Campus Calling career counselling workshop, held at Bhaidas Auditorium, Vile Parle on Friday.
Though three separate sessions were held for the arts, science and commerce streams, some students attended more than one session. “My daughter was very confused about what stream she wants to pursue,” said Kavita Lalwani, a parent.
“We sat through all three sessions and listened carefully to the available career choices. She has now decided on sports psychology, a career option that we were not aware of.”
Parveen Shaikh, head counsellor, YoungBuzz, briefed the audience on the courses and career options for each stream including the entrance exams, cut-offs and companies which would be good options to work with. Counsellors also gave the audience information about new age, lesser-known, well-paid options within streams, such as insurance underwriting, forensic accounting, ceramic and material engineering and nano-technology, among others.
