Teachers of a school in Nerul are planning to go on strike from Tuesday, if the school refuses to pay them salaries in line with the Sixth Pay Commission scales. Teachers of St Xavier’s School in Nerul have given school authorities until Monday to meet their demands.
“We have been discussing the matter with the trustees since June, but nothing has come of it so far,” said Pratima Sharma, a teacher. “We are not even getting Fifth Pay Commission scale salaries.” Around 300 teachers from the school’s Marathi and English medium sections will participate in the strike. “I have been mediating between the trustees and the teachers and am trying to sort out the issue,” said Manisha Andhansare, the school’s principal.
