An argument ended with the death of a 15-year-old boy and severe injuries to his 23-year-old friend on Wednesday evening near Karnatak Hall in Matunga. The Mahim police have registered a case of murder and attempt to murder against two accused.

The deceased has been identified as Sunny Baleshwar Saroj, a Class 9 student of Gurunanak School. His friend Vijendra Jawaharlal Vaish, a fruit seller, is currently recuperating at the Hinduja Hospital. Both are residents of Matunga. The accused, who had a knife, had been following the victim. They had a heated argument with Sunny and then attacked him, the police said.

Vaish’s mother Saroj Jawaharlal Gupta said, “A person who saw the attack informed us about it. We reached the spot and took my son and Sunny to Hinduja Hospital. Sunny was declared dead by the doctors whereas my son is in the intensive care unit.”

Senior inspector VD Pawar said: “We will trace the accused soon. We are not aware why the victims were attacked.”
