A 17 year old boy was arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl at her home in Anandnagar in Kopri, Thane (East), on Monday.

The boy, who is also from the same place, had allegedly raped the two year old girl on July 7 but the girl’s family filed a complaint on Monday.

“The girl told her parents on the same day but they didn't register a case fearing disgrace,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (zone V) Ashok Morale.

The boy and the girl are neighbours and both their families knew each other well. “The accused called the girl on the first floor of her two storey house and raped her there,” said Morale.

“It was only when the girl complained of stomach ache that her parents took her to a hospital in Mulund.

On medical examination, it was found that she was raped. The doctor then informed Navghar police station, who later informed us,” Morale added. The girl’s mother and father were at work when the incident took place.

She added that her eldest daughter had seen the boy raping the victim. “My eldest daughter saw him raping her. She didn’t raise an alarm as she was scared,” said the victim’s mother.

“He has done similar things with other girls as well,” she added. The boy is a school dropout and is unemployed.

The boy will be produced in the juvenile court on Tuesday.
