Thane: Teen attacks classmate for throwing water balloon

Upset with his classmate for throwing a water balloon at him, a 17-year-old boy stabbed the other student with a knife in Thane on Tuesday.

According to Vartak Nagar police, the accused and the complainant are studying in Class 9 at Home of Faith English High School, Subhash Nagar, Thane, and also live in the same area.

The police said the complainant threw a water balloon at the 17-year-old in class on Monday. “The boy was extremely upset and decided to take up the matter the next day,” said a police officer said.

On Tuesday morning, the teenager confronted the victim and started to argue. He suddenly pulled out a small knife and stabbed his classmate near his ear, hand and back, the police said.

Following the chaos, the school principal was informed. “The victim was taken to a private hospital and was discharged after treatment, the police said. His condition is stable.

“We have registered a case against the teenager and are yet to arrest him. Once arrested, he will be produced before the Bhiwandi juvenile justice court,” said PR Kumbhar, sub-inspector, Vartak Nagar Police station.
