We follow our boring daily routine, and are caught in the grind of complex work. Trying to climb the ladder of success, we forget the basics of human life. Living can be and should be simple and efficient. Here are a few Ls.
First, loving. We know how to love our kith and kin and the universe, but here we are talking of unconditional love — love that is pure and without ego.
For example, remember the time when you slapped your child to reform, only to have the child embrace you a few minutes later. We live lonely lives because we have forgotten the art of living with love.
Second, listening. We all wish to be heard, but do we have the time to listen to others?
Lending an ear is better appreciated and others’ outlook may be different. Listening gives relief to the speaker — things are off his chest. Concern and care makes us feel a better person.
Third, lifting. What a fine experience it is to lift another’s morale, and to put someone out of depression. You can inspire others and be an uplifting element in someone else’s life.
Fourth, learning. Knowledge needs to be shared or else of what use? Formal education leads to refinement, thereafter ‘life education’ begins, where our knowledge is meant to keep us in good stead. Experience helps us grow into better human beings, loving and caring.
And the final, living. After loving, listening, lifting and teaching others, we must help ourselves. Our day goes into ‘my’ issues. Earning our daily bread, we wish it buttered too.
With our human values, can we be part of others’ issues, listening to them loving them as they are. When these small deeds are consciously done, we feel good within. Life becomes commendable when we have something rare to offer to others. Your expanse widens, so does your horizon. You are looked upon as guide or role model. You become a part of the joy of others.
