Three persons, who grievously injured a 23-year-old Vile Parle resident over a dispute, were arrested on Tuesday and charged with attempt to murder.

According to the Juhu police, at around 7.20 pm, Mari Devendra, 35, turned up at Amritlalwadi slum in Vile Parle with two accomplices.

The trio, armed with swords, spotted the victim Sunny Soni and threatened him to evacuate the slum and his shop. When Soni resisted, they slashed him on his left hand. When Soni's mother, 45, intervened, they assaulted her and sprinkled chilli powder on them.

Vijay Mhetre, assistant inspector, Juhu, said Mari works for the builders who want the slums to be evacuated and had been threatening the family for the past eight years.
