A 38-year old man faced three men’s fury for no fault of his. He was mercilessly thrashed on Thursday for asking them to return Rs 3 lakh that they owed to him.
The victim, Vinay Baldevraj Sharma, had been asking the accused — Ginni Sardar, 32, his brother Goldie and father Baldev Singh Gyan Singh, 64, — to return his money for the past few months, Mulund police said. The trio called Sharma to their Mulund residence on Thursday afternoon where they allegedly attacked him with a chopper and stumps.
Sharma had been part of a chit fund with one of the accused Ginni, said Mulund police. According to the scheme, the victim and the accused had pooled money that one of them would take home depending on whose name comes up in the chit.
Ginni had, however, had taken a sum of Rs3 lakh that had been pooled in by Sharma promising to return it soon. Sardar did not keep his promise because of which Sharma got infuriated.
Sardar called Sharma to his Malabar Hill residence on Thursday afternoon and along with his brother Goldie and father Baldev Singh Gyan Singh beat up Sharma with stumps and choppers”, said D Jadhav, police inspector from the Mulund police station.
Sharma managed to escape from the residence of the accused and was admitted to the Rajawadi hospital where he is currently recuperating and said to be out of danger.
The police have registered an attempt to murder case and arrested the three accused.
Jadhav said, “We presented three accused before the local court on Friday and they have been remanded to police custody till February 24.” Jadhav added Ginni Sardar is a history sheeter with several cases of rioting and extortion registered against him at different police stations across the city.
