Three persons, including an autorickshaw driver, were arrested on Monday for abducting a passenger and robbing her a month ago.

The accused have been identified as Khalid Shaikh, 27, Mohammed Latif, 22, and Rizwan Qureshi, 20. Shaikh, who resides in Jogeshwari, is an auto driver while Latif and Qureshi are known criminals with several cases of chain snatching against them.

The incident took place last month when the victim Pushpa Mulia took a rickshaw from Seven Bungalows in Andheri to the station. After sometime, Mulia realised that the auto was heading towards the wrong direction. However, she became alert only on hearing Shaikh talking over the phone and telling the person to meet him at the junction near Amboli Church.

Before she could react, Qureshi and Latif entered in the vehicle and gagged her. “The trio had gone into hiding after the incident,” said assistant police inspector Rajendra Kane.
