The prosecution on Wednesday opened its case against the six accused charged with raping a 23-year-old US national studying in Tata Institute of Social Science.
The victim was allegedly raped on April 11 when she had gone partying with the accused Vinamra Soni, Daryaus Colabawala, Jaskaran Singh Bhullar, Anish Borkataki, Kundanraj Gohain and Harshwardhan Yadav — all students.
Public Prosecutor DN Pagare proposed charges of gang-rape and common intention under the IPC saying there was enough evidence against all accused.
The fast track court at Sewri has set November 5 for framing charges against the accused.
The Bombay High Court has granted bail to Gohain.
The trial court has rejected Soni’s bail plea.
