Residents of a plush residential society in Thane were in for a shock on a lazy Sunday morning when they saw a trail of blood drops in two buildings.
Blood stains were found on the staircase and terrace of the buildings in Brahmand Co-operative Housing Society (Phase III) at Ghodbunder Road. Phase III has 10 seven-storey buildings with each building connected to the other through terraces.
“Since it was Sunday, most people were at home.and were not aware of the stains. It was only when the domestic helps came and noticed it, that we saw them. The bloody trail started from the ground floor staircase to the terrace of B-1,” said the chairman of Phase III RS Yadav.
“The stains were strewn all the way till the terrace of B-5 and down its stairs. There were a few blood drops in the garden area as well,” he added.
Clueless, residents immediately informed the Kasarwadavli police station.
“The police arrived soon after the call was made. We had no clue as to where the blood came from,” said joint secretary K. K. Mishra.
“There were few flowers and joss sticks on the terrace of B-5. We don’t know whether it was black magic or not. It is up to the police to investigate,” he added.
The police, meanwhile, have collected the samples of blood to be sent for testing.
“We will be sending the blood samples on Monday to verify whether it is human or animal blood. But it seems that either the blood could belong to an injured dog or to an animal sacrificed by someone who
practices black magic,” said senior police inspector Pramod Khade.
“These are, however, just assumptions. We will be able to decide only after the blood test results come,” he added.
