Two men were killed after a trailer fell on their Tata Indica car at Vasai on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Hanumant Gore (26) and Satish More (27), both residents of Mira Road.
Both were drivers and were returning from Gujarat.
The duo had gone there on duty and was returning after dropping their client in Gujarat. Around 12.30am, when they were near the Western Express Highway and heading towards Mumbai, a speeding trailer, that heading from Mumbai to Gujarat, lost control while taking a turn and toppled over the Indica. Both Gore and More were crushed.
According to the police, Gore was driving the car.
Prakash Salvi, who witnessed the incident while he was passing from the spot in his car, told the police about the incident.
The trailer’s driver fled from the spot leaving his vehicle behind. The two bodies were taken to Vasai government hospital for a postmortem.
Police inspector Chandrakant Jadhav of Manikpur police station said: “We have registered a case of causing death due to rash and negligent driving against the unidentified trailer driver and are making enquiries about him. He will soon be arrested.”
