A truck crashed into the fence along the railway tracks between Thane and Airoli stations on Saturday morning, disrupting services on the Thane-Vashi and Thane-Panvel route.

Truck driver Prithviraj Shinde (31) was arrested and charged with negligent driving. His cleaner was injured in the incident.

Assistant Police Inspector Suresh Sawant said: “At 5 am, Shinde, who was driving on the Thane-Belapur Road, lost control of the truck and crashed into the railway fence. The truck, loaded with yarn, was heading towards Bhiwandi.”

“The services on the route were immediately stopped to prevent any untoward incident. Power in the area was also switched off,” he added.

Services were resumed at 8.10 am after the truck was lifted away by a crane.
