The American drama series ‘Dexter’ has inspired a workshop at Malhar, the inter-collegiate festival of St. Xavier’s College, Dhobi Talao.
“We realised that a lot of students love the television drama show which is centred on a serial killer. We thought we would have a workshop on blood spatter analysis, so that students could gain a really interesting experience,” said Tanvi Saxena, one of the organisers.
The festival will begin on Saturday with the conclave, a platform for students and speakers to discuss socio-political issues, with a keynote address by Binayak Sen. Over the next two days, students will participate in a series of literary and performing arts events, including street dancing, debates and quizzes.
The 33-year-old festival will attempt to entertain its audiences with arrangements for a Gaming room - where students can play Lasertag and PlayStation, a rock-climbing wall and other workshops.
A host of celebrity judges such as Bollywood actors Ranveer Singh, Soha Ali Khan and Prateik Babbar, directors, Ayaan Mukherji and Pradeep Sarkar, choreographer Terence Lewis will be judges for various events.
Purab Kohli, an actor, said, “I feel like I have had a deprived college life because I never really took part in any extra curricular activities in except in my last year. So, going back to college fests always makes me feel good.”
Passes can be collected at the college or downloaded free from the festival’s website.
