Two teenagers, who were arrested by the Bangur Nagar police, from Kalyan, for allegedly kidnapping and raping a schoolgirl for 15 days, were produced before the Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court in Borivali, on Tuesday.

"The accused were remanded in police custody till June 1," said Ramrao Pawar, additional commissioner of police of north region.

One of the accused has been identified as Imran Sheikh (19) while the other accused is 17-year-old. The victim (15) had appeared for her Class 10 exam, this year. The victim and the accused are residents of Goregaon (West).

"The duo do small-time jobs. Based on the complaint of the victim’s father, we registered the case," said Pawar.

The girl's father, a businessman, had lodged a complaint after the girl went missing on May 8.

"The victim's father had said local boys were involved based on which we had registered a kidnapping case. He claimed that the accused had lured her into marriage and then kidnapped her," said Maruti Telang, senior inspector of the Bangur Nagar police station.

Investigations revealed that the accused were also missing since May 8. "Based on their cellphone location, we tracked the boys to Solapur railway station but when our team reached there, the accused had shifted. Their next location was traced to Kalyan from where the arrest was made," said an officer.

"The girl was having an affair with the 17-year-old boy while the second accused was the latter's friend," the officer added.

Police said that they were waiting for the medical report to verify the claims of the victim's family.

"It is only after we receive the medical report, we would be able to comment whether the girl was sexually abused or not," added Telang.
