Panvel police have cracked a murder case with the arrest of two accused and have also identified the key accused.
Ramjit Minj’s (35) partially decomposed body was found in an open plot near Tembhod village in Panel on June 28.
Senior Police Inspector Suresh Bhosale said: “We found a white shirt and a trouser. There was a paper with nine cell phone numbers scribbled on it. We called those numbers and asked the people if they knew the victim.”
A missing complaint was registered at the Kalamboli police station and the description of the person matched that of the deceased. The complaint said Minj had gone to New Panvel with his friends Sunil, Kalesh and Sola, on June 26. “We sent a team to Chhattisgarh and arrested Sola, a labourer by profession. He confessed to killing Minj with the help of Sunil and Kalesh,” said Bhosale.
Police managed to nab Kalesh from Panvel when he was trying to escape. Sunil is still absconding. Sunil suspected that Minj was eyeing his wife and so on the pretext of partying, he took him to a remote area and killed him.”
