Two held in Kalyan with 39 stolen car stereos

The Kalyan police on Thursday arrested two accused, who used to steal car stereos from luxurious cars, and recovered 39 car stereos worth around Rs4.26 lakh from the duo.

The Kalyan police on Thursday arrested two accused, who used to steal car stereos from luxurious cars, and recovered 39 car stereos worth around Rs 4.26 lakh from the duo.

Dr Shivajirao Rathod, DCP, Kalyan, said that following a tip-off that the accused were coming to Kadakpada in Kalyan, inspector Sunil Patil and his team laid a trap and arrested the duo, identified as Joseph Maridas Swami, 26, and Tushaar Vijay Jadhav, 22, both residents of Dombivli.

The accused, who quit their job as drivers to make easy money, confessed to 15 car stereo theft cases. Thirty nine car tapes, worth Rs4,26,300, were recovered from them, said the police.
