Two abandoned newborns, one of them dead, were found at two different places in Thane on Monday.

A newborn baby girl was found dead in a nullah at Indiranagar, near Srinagar police station. The other baby, a three-day-old boy, was discovered by a professor near Chendani area near Dutt Mandir. The baby was rushed to Thane civil hospital by the police, where it is under treatment.

Police inspector Hemant Sawant from Thane Nagar police station said: “Professor Sanjay Sule used to take private tuitions at Chendani area. When he found the baby, he immediately informed the police. Our staff rushed to the spot and took custody of the baby. The baby is hardly three or four days old, and is in the care of doctors and staff at Thane civil hospital. The baby’s condition is stable.” The police are on the lookout for the parents of both the babies.
