The police have retrieved two Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) maps from Irshadur Hafizur Rehman, the man who claimed to be a doctor and was arrested on December 5 at Nava Nagar junction in Byculla for carrying fake police and press identity cards, further increasing suspicion about his links to a terror outfit, the police said.

"We have found these maps from his clinic in Nava Nagar at Byculla. When asked how he got the maps, he told us he used to work at ONGC for a few years. But like all his other claims, this one seems to be concocted as well. We are looking into his professional track record and all his past activities very carefully," said a police official from Byculla police station, on the condition of anonymity

He added that the ATS had been regularly questioning Rehman but there were no definite leads on his role and intentions as of now.

The police are also in the process of checking the authenticity of Rehman's wife, Waheeda's professional documents. Waheeda, a 36-year-old doctor, is the president of a certain Mohalla Mahila Samiti in her housing society in Lokhandwala complex at Saat Rasta.

The police said that Rehman, who was initially remanded in police custody until December 12, was produced before the Mumbai Magistrate's Court on Monday.

Police sources said that the intelligence bureau would also be investigating the case.
