The police on Friday arrested two waiters of Durgaprasad hotel in Bandra, for allegedly killing their manager and stealing Rs 6,000. The manager had reportedly slapped one of them.

On June 7, Rizwan Pathan and Mohammed Muzammil Khan allegedly assaulted the hotel manager, Suresh Bovi (30), and cook Prakash Gupta (27) with wooden planks and knives, while they were sleeping in the restaurant.

While Bovi succumbed to his injuries, Gupta survived. The police traced the duo to their hometown in Madhya Pradesh and brought them to the city on Friday.

Police said Pathan and Khan had assaulted the manager to avenge the humiliation and not to kill.

“The accused never thought that he would die,” said senior police inspector Prashant Badade of the Nirmal Nagar police station.
