The first list for first-year undergraduate programmes in Mumbai university-affiliated colleges will be out on June 10, according to the admission schedule released by the university on Wednesday.
Colleges will sell forms from Thursday, the day Class 12 state board results are declared. The admission process is expected to be completed by June 18.
This is the first time that prospective first-year students will have to enroll online with the university along with submitting individual college applications (admissions will still be conducted by colleges themselves).
The university’s technical partner in the process will be the Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL), whose services have previously been found wanting , owing to various technical goof-ups.
“We have full confidence in MKCL, there will be no confusion,” said Naresh Chandra, pro vice-chancellor.
At an enrollment workshop for principals last week, some had expressed their concerns about MKCL conducting the process, as there have been errors with the digital system in the past few years.
The total number of seats in affiliated colleges will be roughly the same as last year. New programmes approved by the university, including the bachelor’s in film and television, will not be available this year.
