Senior BJP leader LK Advani has said the ruling UPA government is similar to “a communist state like the former Soviet Republic”.
“The present government is more like a communist system than a democracy where the party president is more important than the prime minister,” he told mediapersons at a press conference here as part of his ongoing anti-corruption Jan Chetna Yatra.
Going back to 1955, when Russian leaders Nikita Khrushchev and Nikolai Bulganin visited Rajasthan, Advani recalled a remark that “priority was to be given to Khruschev and not to Bulganin”.
Khrushchev was then the Soviet Communist Party first secretary while Bulganin was the prime minister. Similarly, Manmohan Singh has not been able to assert his dominance on the government despite being prime minister, said Advani.
Challenging Congress president Sonia Gandhi to clear her stand on the issue of corruption and black money, Advani demanded that the government to come out with a “white paper on black money”.
“Why is the Congress president silent on the issue of black money, corruption and inflation? Only the Congress spokesperson or sometimes the PM speaks on this. It is time that Sonia Gandhi clears her stand on this,” he said.
