The 18-year-old son of a constable committed suicide at his Naigaon residence on Monday.
The police said he was upset as he had failed his HSC exams.
Siddhesh, son of constable Satyawan Kadam (45) in the Local Arms unit, lived in building number 3 at Naigaon chawl on RA Kidwai Marg.
“On Monday, Satyawan his wife went out shopping. After returning, they knocked but no one answered the door,” said Police Sub-Inspector S. Patil.
Satyawan broke open the door and found his son hanging from the ceiling fan. He was taken to KEM Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. There was no suicide note.
Satyawan told the police Siddhesh, who had appeared for his HSC Commerce exams, had got his results on May 25.
“Siddhesh had failed in his exams and since then he had been upset. His parents had tried talking him into appearing for the October exams and counselling him and take up a hobby or a diploma course to keep himself occupied. His parents never left him alone,” said Patil.
But for the past five days, Siddhesh had shown signs of recovery so Satyawan and his wife went out on Monday.
Siddhesh was the eldest among the three siblings.
