The readers of SPAN, the magazine published by the US Embassy, now have an opportunity to contribute to its design.
The magazine is organising a nation-wide cover art contest as part of its fiftieth anniversary celebrations this year.
The winner’s entry will be featured on the cover of the magazine’s November-December issue.
Artists and photographers can submit designs, photographs, paintings, graphic art or images of sculptures or murals by September 1.
“Our readership is aging and it’s time to bring the magazine to the attention of the younger generation online,” said Sudha Gandhi of the US Embassy, Delhi.
“We think it is fitting that the prize is an iPad.”
SPAN was started in 1960 with the aim of strengthening the relationship between India and the USA.
The magazine carries articles written by writers from both countries.
The articles cover subjects such as culture, education, technology and India-US relations.
Reprints of articles from American publications such as National Geographic and The New Yorker are also published.
