A Bangkok-bound chartered US plane, in which US marines were among 205 passengers, was ordered by authorities to land at Mumbai airport on Sunday for flying over the Indian airspace without mandatory military clearance.

After remaining grounded for 33 hours, the Boeing 767 was allowed by the IAF to continue to fly to to Utapao in Bangkok.

IAF spokesperson, Wing Commander T.K. Singha, said, “The US aircraft was grounded at Mumbai airport as they did not have the necessary permissions.”
