A garment shop at Bandra (W) was broken into and cash and valuables reportedly worth Rs 10 lakh were stolen on Tuesday night. The Khar police have registered a case against an unidentified person.
According to police, the incident occurred between Tuesday night and early hours of Wednesday morning when the shop was closed.
The owner of the shop, Anil Modi, 26, resident of Raheja Township in Malad (E), found the shutter of the shop unlocked on Wednesday morning. Modi found that his safe, kept in his cabin, has been robbed. Cash valuing Rs 9 lakh and silver valuables from the safe were missing. Modi has lodged a complaint against an unidentified person.
The police added that since the accused had used duplicate keys, an insider could have been involved in the job.
“We will be speaking to Modi's employees and will also check the criminal records to ascertain the identity of the accused,” said Mangesh Pote, senior police inspector of Khar police station.
