The University of Mumbai will be setting up a one-window service at its Kalina campus to address doubts and problems of students appearing for examinations in the October session.
More than one lakh students are expected to take their examinations in the October-November session, including repeater candidates and fresh candidates in courses following the semester system.
At the Examination House in the Kalina campus, a centre will be manned by trained university staff where students can get their queries answered and problems solved during the last eight days before the start of examinations.
This year, the students had been confounded by a series of problems including errors in hall tickets and changes of exam centres at the last minute, right before the year-ending March examinations. Examinations for various subjects begin on October 1, with several lasting until the end of November.
““We don’t want any chaos before the examinations. We are hoping there will not be any mistakes before the examinations. But if there are then we should be able to correct them” said S Deo, director of examinations, Mumbai University Examinations for various subjects begin on October 1, with several lasting until the end of November.
fDeo also said that the assessment process would be revamped to ensure that results are announced as soon as possible. After a series of paper leaks during the last set of examinations, the university decided to put in a system of having joint chief conductors at exam centres. The university will be following a similar procedure this year.
