After six exam paper leaks between March and May this year, the University of Mumbai is working towards sending questions papers to centres through secure web links.
On July 6 and July 23, the university is holding workshops with engineering and bachelors of education (BEd) faculty to familiarise them with the technology.
“The shift will be phase-wise and by the end of two years all 654 colleges will receive their papers via web links,” said S Deo, director of examinations, University of Mumbai. “The technology involves security checks at various levels.”
After three engineering papers had leaked, the university had introduced the system for the engineering faculty only. Now, about 61 engineering colleges and 125 BEd colleges in the city will receive papers via web links from the next semester.
“Colleges need to have high-speed copy machines and fast Internet connections to ensure that time spent on downloading and printing is minimised,” said Suresh Ukrande, dean of technology.
