Vasai drowning victims were not drunk: post mortem reports

The police said the post-mortem reports of the three students who drowned in a waterfall at Vasai stated that they died of suffocation and cerebral haemorrhage.

The police said the post-mortem reports of the three students who drowned in a waterfall at Vasai stated that they died of suffocation and cerebral haemorrhage.

“According to the reports, none of the group members, including the deceased, were under the influence of alcohol,” said a police officer from Manikpur police station, on condition of anonymity because he is not authorised to speak to the media.

Mayur Waghmare, 19, Abhishek More, 21, and Sonu Kanojia, 19, drowned when they went for a picnic to Tungareshwar waterfall at Vasai on Sunday with seven friends.

The police added that the boys had taken a video camera with them. The police said one of the friends was using the camera when three victims began drowning. A few minutes of the video recording has been handed over to the police, the added.

The police said they would upload the video on social networking sites to warn people against swimming near waterfalls.
