Independent MLA from Vasai, Vivek Pandit, on Friday slammed the Maharashtra government for delay in implementing its decision to exclude 35 villages from the Vasai-Virar municipal corporation.

Pandit will undertake a "long march" from Vasai to Varsha, Chief Minister Ashok Chavan's official residence in south Mumbai, on Gandhi Jayanti.

The MLA said the janandolan committee had collected funds to be given to Chavan for getting their work done speedily. He said the notification issued in July 2009 says the villages have been excluded from Thane district. "These villages have not been excluded from Vasai-Virar corporation and do not have gram sabhas too," he said.
