A 29-year-old woman has filed a police complaint after she walked into the restroom of a McDonald’s outlet in Thane and found an employee’s cellphone running in video mode.

Shilpa Koparde was at the fast food outlet at Big Mall with her husband on Saturday evening. “The cleaner told me to wait because the bathroom was not clean,” she told HT. “When I went in, it was still dirty, so I looked around and saw the cellphone near the AC duct.” She called her husband in and he found that it had been switched to video mode.

The 22-year-old employee fled as the two headed to the police station. “A case of intent to insult the modesty of a woman has been filed,” said senior police inspector Pramod Khade. “We are cooperating with the customer and assisting with the investigation,” said a McDonald’s spokesperson. “The employee has been suspended.”
