Multiple murder accused Vijay Palande will soon be arrested by crime branch in the fake passport case registered against him earlier this year at Oshiwara police station.
Crime branch sources said they would be moving an application before the local court soon. At the moment, Palande is in judicial custody. Police will be seeking custody of him in the case where he obtained a passport using fake documents in 2008.
During investigations into various murders involving Palande, the police found that he had given the address of Krishna Nagar in New Delhi. This passport has been issued in the name of Vijay Palande. Sources said Palande used this passport to travel to Bangkok along with his wife Simran Sood just before the crime branch arrested him in April 2012.
Sood alias Seema Surendrakumar Dusaj, too, obtained a fake passport from New Delhi in 2010 using forged documents . Sources said the common link was that the same agent from New Delhi issued passports based on fake documents and addresses to Palande, Sood and gangster Santosh Shetty. Palande is linked to Shetty as they had met in the Nashik jail. Also, Palande is believed to have done odd jobs for Shetty.
Earlier in 2006, Palande was arrested from Andheri (West) where he was living with Sood. The police discovered that Palande had a forged passport under the name of 'Kiran Kanubhai Rana', following which a cheating and forgery case was registered against him.
