Justice VK Tahilramani on Monday wanted to know whether actor Akshay Kumar’s unzipping act during the Lakme Fashion Week 2009 was the legal advisor’s idea.
At the event, the actor’s wife Twinkle unzipped his jeans, after which an obscenity complaint was filed by a social worker with the Vakola police.
Rosa, 29, an assistant legal advisor with International Merchandising Corporation, who was the co-promoter of the event, filed a petition in the high court seeking quashing of the compliant against her that she had abetted the obscenity act.
Her petition states that she was not connected with the show except for applying for no-objection certificate for the event from the police station and was discharging a “purely secretarial function”.
The FIR named her as organiser. Justice VK Tahilramani on Monday asked whether it (unzipping act) was Rosa’s idea. “Did she conceptualise to introduce such act during the show?”
Rosa’s advocate argued neither the complainant, nor the witnesses named her in the compliant. To which Justice Tahilramani said it was important to see whether it was her idea. “Suppose it was her idea? We'll have to look into this,” remarked Justice Tahilramani.
The trial will begin in March 2011, till then the issue would hang like a sword over her, said Rosa’s advocate. Additional Public Prosecutor VB Konde-Deshmukh sought time as the investigation officer was not present. The high court has kept the matter for hearing on December 8.
