Brace for Tuesday troubles while travelling by the city’s public transport. Waterlogging on tracks disrupted suburban services and a lesser-known taxi union also threatened protest owing to which some taxis are likely to remain off the roads.

Suburban services on Central Railway’s main and Harbour line are badly hit because the tracks have submerged underwater at several places. According to sources, though the rain has stopped, trains were running at least 30 minutes late.

Even suburban services on Western Railway that were disrupted owing to a power supply problem on Monday were running late on Tuesday morning.

Water logging was reported at Mankhurd, Vidyavihar, Thane, Vikhroli, Bhandup. CR has advised commuters to plan their journey taking the suburban disruption into consideration.

“Local trains in Mumbai affected owing to heavy rain and waterlogging since early morning,” CR tweeted. It said BEST has been advised to run extra buses.

Meanwhile, the Jai Bhagvan Taxi Rickshaw Mahasangh, has threatened to protest at Azad Maidan, against app-based taxi aggregators Ola and Uber, from 10am onwards. If the protest gets a response from taxi drivers, it will spell trouble for commuters.

Except, Swabhiman Sanghatana, no other major taxi union has supported the union.
