South African cricketer Wayne Parnell appeared before the Juhu police on Wednesday and had his statement recorded in the presence of his local “representative” lawyer and a South African counsel.
Parnell had surrendered before the special Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) court of judge IM Bohari on Monday and was granted bail on a surety of Rs 10,000 after his formal arrest. The court had asked him to visit the Juhu police station on April 10 to finish the investigation procedure.
“Parnell came to the Juhu police station at around 12.30pm on Wednesday and left at around 3.30pm after his four-page statement was recorded. A supplementary charge sheet will be filed by June 10 against him and the other accused who were shown wanted in the charge sheet,” said an official from the Juhu police station.
Parnell, along with another cricketer Rahul Sharma, had tested positive for consumption of drugs in the party held at Oakwood Premier hotel at Juhu on May 20 last year.
