The traditional thing to do on any anniversary is throw a party. And when the anniversary is really special, just as this one is because Hindustan Times is seven years old in Mumbai — or soon will be, on July 14 — it ought to be a party that has everyone talking for the next seven years (at least).
But what with one thing or another (a person named Dhoble, for instance, not to mention a certain permit that brings high spirits down), throwing a party in Mumbai seems inadvisable at this point. So we transferred the party to our pages. We went a little mad putting together this special seventh anniversary edition of HT Café. Because there was so much we wanted to give you.
Fun stuff, useful stuff — and a few complete jaw-droppers. On this page, you’ll learn that our movie stars need to do some very strange things to make a living. Inside, you’ll wonder where seven Page 3 perennials have vanished.
If the pace at which Mumbai moves is too fast for you, we’ve got a handy list of Twitter feeds to help you keep up, and if you’re wondering why your relationships never last, check out our advice. That’s far from all — but we’re not giving everything away here. Tear up your to-do list for the day, pour another cup of tea, stick your feet up, dive into the paper and have a very happy anniversary on us.
