The Raigad police, who busted the rave party at Hotel Mount View in Khalapur near the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Sunday night, said all kinds of drugs were made available to revellers. Police were able to recover some portion of the drugs from the place, but said said revellers had consumed most of it before the crackdown.
Deputy superintendent of police, Khalapur division, Namrata Patil said, “Every kind of drug was available at the party. Ganja, charas, cocaine, everything.” The police seized nearly two kg of ganja, 57 gm of charas, small quantities of cocaine, tablets and powders and Rs3,08,000 in cash.
Khalapur police had raided Hotel Mount View at Khalapur, close to Mumbai-Pune expressway, following a tip off about drugs being consumed at a party. At least 290 youngsters, including 59 women in the age group 20-30 years, were detained on Sunday.
Patil confirmed that the police had booked six persons in the case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Those arrested include Anil Jadhav, an inspector with Mumbai’s Anti-Narcotics Cell, his associate, Sunil Ghule, organisers Snehjit Sajalkar and Kushankumar Sujankumar, and hotel manager Rahul Khanna. The prime accused Vickey Shah, however, managed to escape.
Shah is a co-ordinator from a private event management company which organised the party.
Meanwhile, the youths detained by the police have been released after medical tests. The reports are awaited.
Raigad superintendent of police RD Shinde said, “We have released the youth who were from Mumbai and Pune after medical tests were conducted on them. Action will be taken against them based on the medical reports.” Police said the organisers of the party had left no stone unturned to make it a grand success. They had ensured the availability of all kinds of drugs at the party.
