Though most of his classmates were neck-deep in tuitions, Harsh Aladia never weighed this as a real possibility.
“I was doing well in class so I never thought about taking tuitions,” said the Class 10 student of St Xavier’s Boys’ Academy at Marine Lines.
He will appear for the SSC examinations in March.
Though his parents suggested he consider the possibility of taking tuitions during the vacations, he decided not to.
“I discussed this with my parents and told them that I could manage. I thought I would take tuitions if something goes wrong,” he said. But since it didn’t, Aladia continued to work steadily on his own.
As Aladia gears up for the upcoming board examinations, he is confident, having scored good grades through the year.
“I organised myself well. I made timetables and I have studied at my own pace, so I know I can do it,” he said.
When it comes to clearing doubts, Aladia seeks out the Internet or his friends.
Though his classmates initially thought him strange for not opting for tuitions, he stuck to his decision. “I believe in myself and have the will power, so I never felt the need for tuitions,” he said.
