Though the exam department of University of Mumbai (MU) recently announced commencement dates for sixth semester exams (final year), more than one lakh students are still clueless about their exam results for the previous semester.
The results of the fifth semesters exams, conducted by MU in November 2014, for the courses such as, BCom, BSc and Bachelor of Management Studies(BMS) are yet to be declared. The 45 day- limit, by which results have to declared, has already passed.
Also, the results for Bachelor of Law (LLB and BLS) and Master of Management Studies (MMS) have not been declared as well.
The university has declared the results for final year exams of Bachelor of Mass Media (BMM) and final year engineering.
More than 65,000 students had appeared for the TYBCom exams. Around 10,000 students appeared for TYBSc, 5,000 for LLB and 10,000 for TYBMS and MMS.
Dinesh Bhonde, controller of examinations, MU, said, “The TYBCom result is likely to be declared in two to three days. Also, the dates for the results of TYBSc, TYBMS and LLB exams will be fixed soon.” Bhonde, however, refused to comment on the reason behind the delay.
“The exams were postponed owing to state elections. The fact that teachers were involved in the organisation of the Indian Science Congress resulted in assessment of the papers taking a back seat,” said a university official requesting anonymity.
Students said they were confused by the delay. “As results are yet to be declared, we will barely have a month to apply for revaluation or appear for ATKT (Allowed To Keep Term) exam before the finals,” said a TYBCom student from ML Dahanukar College, Vile Parle.
The sixth semester exams for BA and BSc will commence from April 7 while those of BCom will start from April 8.
