With new Duronto, travel from Mumbai to Allahabad in 19 hrs

The new non-stop superfast Duronto Express —which will cut down the travel time between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and Allahabad by 130 minutes — was inaugurated on Sunday morning. The train will start running on a regular basis from March 16.

“In the absence of MP Priya Dutt, MLA Milind Kamble showed green flag to the train” said a CR official.

Elaborating on the fifth Duronto train on the Central Railway (CR), Vidyadhar Malegonkar, chief public relation officer (CPRO), CR, said: “The new Duronto Express will be the fastest train connecting Mumbai to Allahabad. It will cover the distance between the two cities in 19 hours, while the other trains take at least 21 hours.”

“The response to the inaugural run of the train has been good. The bookings on the train for April got full on the first day itself,” said Malegaonkar.

Currently, more than 15 trains from Mumbai go to or via Allahabad. The fastest is the LTT-Faizabad Superfast Express, which reaches Allahabad in 21.10 hours, while the slowest is the LTT-Allahabad Tulsi Express, which takes 27.30 hours to complete the journey.

The train will run on Monday and Friday.

The train will start its journey from LTT at 5.25pm and will reach Allahabad at 12.25pm the next day. The return journey will begin at 7.30pm. from Allahabad. It will have 16 coaches including 1 first A/C, 3 second A/C and 8 third A/C compartments. It will take five technical halts in its journey.
