A 28-year-old social worker running a non-profit organisation was allegedly molested at a well-known club at Bandra by its manager, bouncers and staff in the early hours of Sunday following an altercation over the closing time of the club.
A cross complaint has also been lodged against the woman by the club management, alleging she was trying to extort money from them.
According to the police, the woman, who helps the police ensure that clubs and bars in the city are closed on time, had gone to the club on Saturday night, but was stopped at the gate by a bouncer. She then asked the bouncer how the club was running so late and told him to call the manager.
The manager arrived on the scene and allegedly told her that he had all the required police permissions and allegedly hurled abuse at her.
Following this, the woman went to Bandra police station and filed a complaint. When she returned to the club with the police, it was shut.
The police registered a case of molestation and assault against the pub manager and staff.
The club in its complaint said the woman was trying to extort money from them. “We have registered cross complaints in the matter against both parties and are investigating the case,” said Shailesh Pasalwar, inspector, Bandra police station.
