A 32-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted with a sharp weapon and was thrown out of an autorickshaw in Mulund (East) on Tuesday.
The Navghar Police said Asha Sindal, a resident of Mulund (West) was in an auto-rickshaw with her husband’s business partner Jayantibhai Vador, 52, when an altercation broke out between them at the Airoli bridge signal on the Eastern Express highway.
“Vador then attacked her with a sharp weapon and Sindal was thrown out of the auto-rickshaw,” said Ganesh Gaikwad, senior police inspector, Navghar police station.
Vador then escaped in the same autorickshaw. A BEST bus was passing by and a woman passenger spotted Sindal lying on the road.
“Sindal was taken to Savarkar hospital where she was treated for a grievous injury on her left hand and is recuperating,” Gaikwad said.
Police are looking for Vador in the case.
“We searched for Vador at his house but didn’t find him. We are also investigating if the auto rickshaw driver was involved,” said Gaikwad.
He said, “Preliminary investigation has revealed that there was a dispute between Sindal’s husband and Vador over some money matter which had led to the attack.
