A 50-year-old jilted lover gave a contract to a criminal to deface the face of his girlfriend after she refused to marry him.

Sabina Sheikh (28), a resident of Indira Nagar slums in Kurla (East), was attacked on Monday at Kurla station. She was stabbed several times on the face and chest and has sustained over 50 stitches. She has been admitted to Rajawadi Hospital.

The Wadala Government Railway Police said the incident took place around 11.30pm on platform no 8 at Kurla station.

Sayyed Ali Sher Ali was given a contract by Sheikh's lover Kamruddin Malik (50), a resident of Powai.

Sheikh told the police that she was in a relationship with Malik for the past few months. During this time, he allegedly drugged her and had a physical relation with her. When he asked her to marry him, she refused. This angered Malik, who hired Ali to to disfigure her face. Ali, a resident of Kurla, has several serious offences against him.

On Monday, Malik asked Sheikh to meet him on platform no 4 of Kurla station, where Ali attacked her and fled. “We have registered a case of attempt to murder against Malik and Ali, who are absconding,” said senior police inspector M Gavit.
