Senior BJP leader LK Advani on Monday said that he would personally request Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to start a DD Sindhi channel to showcase the culture and talent of the community.

"I will personally go and request the Prime Minister to start a channel to showcase the outstanding talent of the Sindhi community. Besides, they are also doing a lot of social work that can be shown on the channel," Advani said.

He said this while addressing a gathering at the Jhamatmal Wadhwani Memorial Awards 2012 function organised at the National College in Bandra.

In a bid to get a Doordarshan Sindhi channel, people from this community have been sending post-cards to the Prime Minister, in which, they have sought the government to preserve their language, culture and identity through the 24-hour DD Sindhi channel.
