Youngsters rush to the rescue of those trapped at Dombivli MIDC

THANE: From helping people out of the debris to taking them to hospitals, volunteers of the Dombivli Eagle bridge were actively assisting the rescue operations after the blast at a factory in Dombivli MIDC.

“Our volunteers were alert. Around 25 of them reached the spot and helped with the rescue operations. One of them also removed a gas cylinder from the spot, which could have caught fire ,” said Vishwanath Biwalkar, founder, Eagle brigade team Dombivli.

The volunteers also helped the injured reach hospitals and manned the traffic flow.

“People were frightened and had no idea where to go. They were running helter and skelter. I managed to help some people out of the debris,” said Abhay Dubey, a volunteer of the team.

The team also used the social media to spread the word and send out alerts on the traffic situation.

The volunteers also got blood donors to the hospitals in the vicinity.
